What sells when: a UK reseller calendar
The same coat is worth more in October than in May. Listing things just before buyers start looking is one of the easiest ways to sell faster and for more.
Why timing matters
Buyers search for what they need now. List a winter coat in a heatwave and it sits there; list it the week the weather turns and it lands in front of people who are searching for exactly that. Timing does not change what an item is worth for ever, but it changes what someone will pay this week.
The rule of thumb: list a few weeks before the season starts, not when it is in full swing. By then, plenty of other sellers have had the same idea.
The calendar
| Month | List now |
|---|---|
| January | Gym and running kit, home organisation, unwanted gifts. Winter coats still sell in cold snaps. |
| February | Occasion wear for Valentine's Day. Start listing spring jackets. |
| March | Lighter jackets, trainers, garden tools, bikes. Spring clear-outs mean more competition, so good photos matter. |
| April | Swimwear, holiday clothes, sunglasses, camping gear, garden furniture. |
| May | Summer dresses, shorts, festival outfits, sandals, outdoor toys. |
| June | Wedding guest outfits, holiday wear, sports and outdoor kit. |
| July | School uniform and school shoes (before the rush), university essentials. |
| August | Back to school and uni: uniform, bags, stationery, desks, kitchen basics. Start listing autumn layers. |
| September | Knitwear, jackets, boots, cord and wool. Students' room items. |
| October | Winter coats, Halloween costumes, Christmas jumpers (earlier than you think). |
| November | Party wear, gifts, toys, games, boxed items, anything giftable. |
| December | Last-minute gifts early in the month; then think ahead to January fitness and organisation. |
What sells all year
Some things are not seasonal: everyday branded basics, jeans, trainers from popular brands, kids' clothing in common ages, books and games, tech and accessories. List these whenever you have them.
Should you hold things back?
If you have space and the gap is only a few months, holding a seasonal item until its season often pays: a good winter coat can fetch clearly more in autumn than in spring. If the item is fast fashion or low value, just list it: the storage and the wait are rarely worth a pound or two.
Snappy tells you for each item
Every listing Snappy writes includes a seasonal tip: the best time of year to list that particular item, plus the UK platform most likely to sell it. It is the same advice as this calendar, applied to the thing in your photo.

From September into early November, when people start looking. Cold snaps later in the winter can bring a second wave of buyers.
July and August, before term starts. Parents buy ahead, and plain branded items (like school shoes) sell well too.
Early December is good for giftable items. The last week before Christmas is usually quiet for sellers, because postage times get risky.
Evenings and weekends are when most people browse. Listing on a Sunday evening puts a new item in front of a lot of people.
