How to sell prams and baby equipment in the UK
Baby gear is expensive new and used for a short time, so there's a steady stream of parents looking for good secondhand prams, cots and high chairs. Here's how to sell yours quickly and safely.
What sells well
- Prams and pushchairs from well-known brands, especially full travel systems.
- Cots and cot beds, Moses baskets and next-to-me cribs.
- High chairs, bouncers, baby carriers and play gyms.
- Baby monitors and bottle prep machines, if they work and are complete.
List the exact model and every part
Pram buyers search by brand and model, and they want to know exactly what they're getting. Include:
- The brand, model and colour, and the year if you know it (it's often on a label on the frame).
- Every part included: chassis, carrycot, seat unit, raincover, footmuff, adapters, changing bag.
- Folded size and weight, for anyone with a small car boot.
- Honest condition: fabric fading, wheel wear, anything that sticks or squeaks.
Safety first
- Check for recalls on the model before you sell, using the government's product recall listings or the manufacturer's website.
- Make sure brakes, harnesses, buckles and folding locks all work, and say so in the listing.
- Don't sell second-hand car seats. Safety organisations advise against them because you can't be sure they haven't been in an accident.
- For cots and Moses baskets, many parents prefer to buy a new mattress, so say whether yours is included and its condition, or sell the frame on its own.
Clean and photograph it
Wash removable fabrics, wipe down frames and wheels, and photograph everything in daylight: the pram set up in each mode, folded, close-ups of the fabric and wheels, and every accessory laid out. Missing an adapter or raincover from the photos is the fastest way to get a "does it come with…?" message.
Pricing
Look at sold listings on eBay and similar listings nearby on Facebook Marketplace. Newer models, popular brands, full sets with every part and clean fabrics hold value best. If a newer version of the model has come out, price a bit lower.
Where to sell, and collection
Prams and big items sell best locally on Facebook Marketplace, local parents' groups and Gumtree, because buyers want to see them and avoid posting costs. Smaller items like carriers, monitors and bouncers sell well on Vinted and eBay.
For collection, have the item set up so buyers can try the fold and the brakes, have someone else at home, and take cash or a bank transfer that has arrived before it leaves.
Snap the pram, get the listing
Photograph it and the accessories, and Snappy writes the title with the model, what is included, the condition and a suggested price.
